Acid-Free Paper

A want-to-be Picasso
splatters paint across
the canvas
of my heart
The art school drop-out
sketches the fragments
of a dying rose
in red crayon
Some free-lance photographer
captures the tear falling
from eyes
in black and white
and freezes it forever
on acid-free paper

the artist wants to be something
but all it creates is nothing
the art flows reluctantly
from its fingertips

the memories of past times
halts the smooth paint strokes
and stops the free flowing words

art is a dialect few understand
and even fewer speak.
